Compilation of error messages

Sorry to be vague here, but I’m terribly frustrated. I was able to create my Buddypress site (indiekidsproducers.net), but I am unable to make it work properly. I get various error messages or things I create simply disappear. I asked a friend who is more tech savvy to explore, and I will post below the string of errors she received before hitting the limits of her expertise. I forwarded her notes to my ISP – Network Solutions – who said it wasn’t their problem and that I’d have to contact WordPress/Buddypress…

Can anyone please make heads or tails of these errors and suggest how I might make repairs? Thanks very very much!

    David

    1. 500 Internal Server Error
    Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [no address given] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
-Sunday, 1:30 pm, obtained error message below: when I clicked on username to see account; when I clicked to submit new post (although later this post did get submitted, text reads “Let the dialogue begin!”); when I clicked to view post

    2. .htaccess
-entered Google search with this error text, visited forum recommendation, http://wordpress.org/support/topic/clueless-thats-me-500-error-help-please-godaddy-response
-per these instructions, I logged into File Manager via Network Solutions and looked for .htaccess with CGI impairments, but there were no .htaccess files…
-accessed the files via independent FTP client as well and no .htaccess files were present either (identical view, just double-checking)
-note: permissions are rwx, rwx — should they be 644?

    3. Login
-Sunday, 1:45 pm = then I couldn’t login to the site — even though the wordpress page and the right toolbar had the correct info entered, the dashboard, etc did not appear at the top of the page as it had when I edited the “Let the dialogue begin!” post — it ignored this submission of username+password information and retained the option to login

    4. Professional help
= page where one can click to chat on technical support topics during M-F business hours (see hyperlink in rightmost column), http://www.networksolutions.com/contact/index.jsp

If this is a new build, wipe it all clean again, and just install WordPress. Test that a default, out-of-the-box WordPress works fine. This means things like writing posts, editing posts, writing comments, changing theme, and — specifically — make sure you can customise the permalinks (Settings -> Permalinks, in wp-admin).

    Thanks! Will try that!
