Create A Blog

I am hoping to get around using the wp-signup form for new users largely because that wpmu page looks terrible and is a beast to hack. It wasn’t until I had a test account on my BP install that I saw the “create a blog” option from the admin bar sub-menu takes you to a nicely laid out signup form within the BP profile area (URL/members/membername/blogs/create-a-blog).

This of course is only open to existing members of the site. So am I on the right track by saying if you set your wpmu settings to “Only logged in users can create new blogs” that this will enable new blog signups to effectively use this process?

    Great work everyone…

    Thx

  • The nice register page would be http://yourdomain.com/register and it is already there for new registration of any account type you allow :) Check out http://testbp.org/register as an example.

Holy smokes, you’re right. With the admin bar and so many variations of the signup process it’s a bit confusing. My register page looks nothing like that, however. Is this a widget I’m missing? See: http://sportstwit.com/register

    Thanks

Not a widget as you are using your own theme. You might just be missing the CSS that would be required to make it look nice in your theme :) The fun of running a custom theme I guess :)

That is Buddypress Home theme (modified)…but even so, the drop down menu, verification and about me box is missing on my page. Hmmmmm….

The links on your site to register are not the newest update though. What version of BP are you using? There have been “loads” of changes in the past month or so….

Well the sign up link was hard coded to wp-signup.php, but I’m pretty sure I have the latest combo downloaded in the past week.

If you look at your member page as well, the letters and placement of things on the page are not the same as the default theme, so I would start comparing the CSS of your theme versus that of the original. That is all I can recommend.

I hear you. I’m already aware I messed up something in the CSS that has affected those pages. I’ll do a re-install and if I can get that nice register page I can move on. thanks for the input…

On a similar note – how do I activate the chapta field for my registrations?

@MartinNr5 you need to start a new thread for this as not to hijack the thread. There are quite a few topics in this forum on adding them. Any WPMU plugin that does it will do.
