How can I create a user through a script?

I have the username and email of a person, and would like to create an account for him without having to manually put it into wp-signup.php.

Is this possible? If not, is there any other automated way to create a user?

Would there be an automated way to fill out the Site Admin form for new users (e.g. if i have 15 users to put in), especially if i could do it through a script?

The fastest way to fix it I found is to use the function wpmucreateuser
