I need to create a custom home page in BuddyPress – it’s a fairly complex splash page, so the custom home page will need access to the complete WordPress/Buddypress API (it can’t be a static home page). I’ve looked at these instructions (http://www.wordpressmax.com/customize-wordpress/custom-page) for a custom WordPress home page, but my custom page templates are *not* showing up.

Create a page template the same as in WP.

Add a new page called home. Choose your page template.

Then in your admin >> reading choose that page as the front page. You can create anything you want.
