[Resolved] Customized user permissions – for a volunteer registry

    I’m kinda new at this, not a programmer, and have been tasked with making a website for a local animal welfare organization, for the purpose of connecting rescue groups with willing foster homes in the community– basically what I need are two separate TYPES of membership accounts.

    Visitors should be able to apply to be a foster home OR a rescue group, pending admin approval. Approved rescue groups should then be visible to the public, while approved foster homes would ONLY be visible to the rescue groups.

    I’ve got Buddypress and several “Membership” plugins activated but I can’t seem to find anything with networking user permissions that are detailed enough to accomplish this task.

    Any suggestions?

    @alishaescoto,

    instead of struggling with custom roles, i would consider to use one or more private groups for the rescue group. With this setting, you even don’t need two types of members.

    And somehow, the memberslist of a private group can than be hidden with some extra adjustment.
