BP uses the WPMU user accounts. If you have deleted the user account in question, they won’t be able to log in. You could check the DB to confirm that.
Only other thing I can think of is if you are using caching and it has not refrenshed yet. Some BP widgets’ content is generated when it happens. E.g. The “recent activity” block – if you want to clear that one out, you’ll find it in a DB table.
It’s definitely failing to delete for some reason. What is the db table I need to look at?

Account is still “active” in BuddyPress after deletion, but non existent if searched for in WPMU.
They can log out, log in, post and everything as normal in BuddyPress. Yet the account does not exist in Worpress.
Each blog has it’s own set of users. Site Admin > Users > Delete is different than Users > Authors and Users > Delete.
Site Admin is site wide for all blogs. When you use that you’ll see the blogs that the user has a role in listed before you delete. If you delete the users through Users then it’s just for that blog you are currently visiting.
I do not have user blogs enabled, only user names can be registered in wpmu. I’m not sure we are on the same wavelength here, one of us is confused (probably me)!
When I delete a user in wpmu admin panel it should delete them in buddypress too. It is failing.
The wmpu account is deleted, but it has no effect on buddypress. They can continue posting abuse or anything they like and I am powerless to stop them or delete them
are you sure they are not spammers that register account when you delete them?

Burtadsit was right. I have been using WPMU for a year and never noticed that there are TWO User admin options.
I deleted the user from the particular blog, but not WPMU.
How confusing is that? What’s the point of that btw, anyone know?

The point is to allow multiple users per blog, as editors, admins, etc…
