Direct message to users buddypress inbox

Surprises me that I haven’t seen any updates or plugins for admins to message users from.dashboard directly into their user inbox through buddypress.
Would be great feature so we can directly send them a ‘welcome to the community’ or used by other plugins like Memberships pro so users can be directly messaged when their membership is running out.
Or have I missed something?
