dividing user accounts into different types

    Hi guys is there a way to have 4 types of buddypress user accounts. i want to divide my users account into 4 different types so that if I add a certain plugin functionality to buddypress site of mine, then my plugin, it would detect the account type and become either available or un-available to that user.
