[Resolved] Do I need to set up BuddyPress as a Secondary Blog?

I’ve been reading the configuration instructions for Installing on a Secondary Blog. Basically, I have a root blog (http://example.com) and I want my BP forum to be at http//example.community.com. So my solution was to install a totally separate WP/BP installation in a sub-folder, and also create a separate database for it, so the two sites are completely separated. Bearing that in mind, do I still have to go through that whole SECONDARY BLOG configuration? The instructions don’t mention whether or not that applies only to BP installations that use the same database as the root blog.
