“E-mail me (admin) whenever anyone posts a comment” box checked…no e-mail comes

In Discussion Settings the box is checked for me, as Administrator, to receive an e-mail whenever anyone posts a comment. The e-mail address for this Admin account is valid, and is typed correctly. I had been running the “BuddyPress Group Email Subscription” plugin, and then everyone in the “group” received e-mails even though every one of them had the “no mail” option selected…and the admin still did not receive even one of them. So I deactivated the plugin. Right now I am a novice trying nothing fancy, I just need the admin e-mail address to receive notice whenever anyone posts a comment…which is why I checked that box. Can anyone help, please? Thank you.

My first thought is perhaps that plugin somehow interacted with something. However can we go right back to basics and maybe try the default theme with no other plugins (making sure cache plugins are cleared will also be a good check)?

I get it is sometimes hard to do that but be interested in seeing if you get the expected behaviour then.
