Error creating groups

In the step 4 of creating a group I get this error message:

Warning: sprintf() [function.sprintf]: Too few arguments in /home/huwaicom/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-groups/bp-groups-notifications.php on line 262

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/huwaicom/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-groups/bp-groups-notifications.php:262) in /home/huwaicom/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 856

The group is created correctly though.

Also, in step 3 it is not possible to upload an avatar for a group. I get this message:

Are you sure you want to do it? Please try again.

We don’t have sufficient information to provide any assistance. Please answer these questions:

    1. Which version of WPMU are you running?
    2. Did you upgraded from a previous version of WPMU, and if so, from which version and how?
    3. Did you have WPMU functioning properly before installing and upgrading BuddyPress?
    4. Which version of BuddyPress are you running?
    5. Did you log in as site admin in WPMU’s backend and activate BuddyPress?
    6. Do you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed and activated?
    7. Are you using the standard BuddyPress themes or custom themes?
    8. Are there are errors in your server’s log files, and if so, what are they?

    Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your feedback, here are my answers. My site is huwai.com.tw

    1. 2.7.1

    2. no, fresh install of 2.7.1

    3. yes

    4. 1.0

    5. yes

    6. yes, bp-dev plugins, fb-connect, google analytics and a couple of other wpmu plugins like plugin commander, toggle admin menues, simple dashboard, blog defaults, etc.

    7. Shouty theme

    8. the error log has over 1,400 entries, most of them this:

WordPress database error Query was empty for query made by require, require_once, include, dynamic_sidebar, call_user_func_array, bp_core_widget_members, bp_core_get_userlink, bp_fetch_user_fullname, xprofile_set_field_data, BP_XProfile_ProfileData->save

Note: before I freshly installed 2.7.1 and bp 1.0 I used older version of both for testing. I didn’t have this error message then, but group avatar upload didn’t work as well.

If you’re still having this issue, you need to remove as many variables as possible. Since you are using a custom theme and a number of 3rd-party plugins, this is where you should focus your efforts.

Before starting this process, make a backup of your MySQL DB just in case. Also, it is advisable that you back up all your custom themes and 3rd-party plugin files just in case you make some major mistake.

Now, switch to the standard themes that come with BuddyPress. Try creating a group again. If the problem appears to be resolved, switch back to your custom themes and try creating a group again. If the problem returns, contact the theme designer.

Next, assuming the problem still exists with the standard BuddyPress themes, you should deactivate your 3rd-party plugins one at a time. Deactivate just one, try creating a group again. If the problem still exists, then deactivate another 3rd-party plugin. Keep doing this until either the problem goes away, or all 3rd-party plugins are deactivated. You can also go about this the other way: deactivate all plugins except BP and then reactivate one at a time, checking to see if the issue occurs again with each new reactivation.

If you find that the problem goes away after a particular 3rd-party plugin is deactivated, then you may have found the culprit. Contact the developer of that plugin and ask for advice.

Please report the results back in this thread.

Same thing here. I was not able to create avatar and got the same message. However, once I skipped ‘avatar’ section and finished creating group I was able to create avatar from inside group admin.

I’m running latest versions of WPMU and BuddyPress. I have a lot of plugins for MU but I didn’t include any extra BP plugins.

Another problem. I went to create another group (‘Create Group’ link). But after I did it I realized that I have actually overwritten the group I have previously created. How is this possible. I tried several times. Please help me solve this.

    Cannot create groups.

There was an error saving group details. Please try again.

I wish I got to step 4. I’ve been on step one all day. Not sure how to resolve this. I have no other plugins installed, besides the base needed for bbPress integration. I’ve been over and over this process with no luck.
