example.com/forums with 1.1 built in bbPress?

bbPress is now built into BuddyPress as of 1.1 I believe, making the setup of group forums much, much easier.

However, I would like to have sitewide forums available at ‘/forums’ or similar – would it be possible to enhance the current bbPress offerings and with perhaps a little rewriting magic, have sitewide forums at ‘/forums’.

Could this be possible? Or will I just have to install bbPress the old fashioned way in the ‘/forums’ directory?

Yes, it will still be possible to do this, but it will take a little smoke and mirrors until forums aren’t only for groups in BuddyPress. Forums don’t care who made them, but BuddyPress still needs a mechanism to gather and present the information outside of a group setting.

If it doesn’t make the 1.1 release I’m hoping to find the spare time to offer a “forum directory” plugin at the 1.1 launch, probably similar to the members and groups directories.
