BuddyPress.org

I need to extend the friends tables by either creating another column or using the wordpress options. It’s a secret key that will be encrypted that the requested friend must confirm. I’m wondering what would be a best practice so that everything is easily extended in the future and so future updates don’t conflict with changes I might make to the database.

Also on another note… Are there hooks for the ajax javascript functionality used in buddypress e.g. friend requests, or is it best to overwrite the existing functionality.

Don’t know if it matters but I’m using WPMU 2.9.1.1 and BuddyPress 1.2.1
