I am running the latest Buddypress modules and WordPress.

I am using Buddypress Members Reviews and want to extend it’s Top Members Widget. For this, I want to add in member_type, restrict the recommendations to a certain geographical radius, and bring in some of the user’s profile information.

Has anyone done something similar to this or explored what this would take code wise? I assume it is not good practice to code within the plugin, is this correct? Is there an easy way to encapsulate all this functionality within one module?
