[Resolved] Fatal error: Call-time pass-by-reference has been removed

    The site can no loger be viewed. I get the error message
    “Fatal error: Call-time pass-by-reference has been removed; If you would like to pass argument by reference, modify the declaration of apply_filters(). in …/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core.php on line 561”
    How do I fix this? I can not even open the dashboard.

    Using FTP or your hosting panel access start renaming any BP plugins you have running until you regain access to your install, renaming effectively deactivates the plugin, this will also tell you what plugin is causing the issue.

    Thank you. It was the theme that was the problem. I had upgraded BuddyPress to a version that no longer was supprted by the old theme. Using Cpanel I was able to update WordPress and change theme.
