I’m unable to create group forum from the buddypress group admin page. Below it says “Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in /wp-content/plugins/bbpress/includes/extend/buddypress/group.php on line 308″

I have disabled buddypress own forum, and also choosen Group Forums Parent.

aso noticed: when creating new group and 3rd setup where need to create a group again error appears “Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in wp-content/plugins/bbpress/includes/extend/buddypress/group.php on line 461″

installed fresh copy and have same issue. You can check on: http://ersi.stig.al/wp/

Wordpress is in Russian, but the plugins are in English

Also cannot create blog for Groupblog plugin while creating new group.

Can someone please help?

Hi Hugo, yes indeed i did. but didn’t know that both supports are related and therefore raised to each other.

Not necessarily related, well in a sense 🙂 but John is lead dev for both projects, and although you say it’s BP related as ‘groups’ related I think the problem and fix probably does rest with how bbp is handling things ( could well be wrong though).

Not really clear what their solution was, presume they were referring to copying over the groups core directory from 1.7.3, this does not sound like a hugely sensible fix mixing files from two versions but probably won’t cause issues.

i have done this, it does cause some small issues, for example when adding group avatar there some issue appeared but still it has added the image. Would be good to solve this issue:)

You need, then, to wait for a fix from the lead developers and/or raise a ticket on one or other of the projects trac system. Copying or mixing files from two different release versions of an app is always going to be something to absolutely avoid really, however there was more detailed fix demonstrated, which involves hacking core files which might be safer short term interim solution and which would be overwritten when a core fix/update is released.
