Fatal Error upon actvation

I noticed this post in other areas but the resolutions never solves my problem im’ getting: Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_blog_option() in …/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core.php on line 421

I am using WP MU and installed BP from the plugin ->add new. after i activate it it gives me that error when i go to any page. In order for my page to show back up, i have to either change the name of the BP plugin directory or delete it… any ideas???

Please help

If you are getting that error then it seems very likely you are not running WordPress MU, and instead regular WordPress.

you know what… you are exactly right… i went to https://mu.wordpress.org/download/ downloaded wordpress 2.8.1 but now when i go back the download file is wordpress mu 2.8.1 grr.
