”Featured Activty” on the site home page?
-
Greetings,
I’m starting to get the hang of how buddypress works and the possibilities are very exciting. But there’s one thing I’m not quite sure how to do.
In a way, it’s kind of like wordpress’ “featured content” capability. I’d like for certain people, probably people in admin role, to be able to “promote” certain buddypress activity, most often good/interesting forum topics, to show up on the site home page.
My original plan had been to just write new blog entries that had pointers to the promoted site activity. But I was wondering if there is a better way.
In a way, it would be like an “activity stream” kind of thing but it would be filtered by “featured buddypress activity” or something like that.
In fact one thought I had was to create a special buddycpress account, give it admin level access and use that account to label ceriain activity as a “favorite”. Then I’d grab the RSS feed for that account’s favorites and display it on the home page using an RSS feed display widget of some sort. I’m thinking that’s kind of a clunky solution, but it could be done.
Any other suggestions on how to select a subset of buddy press activity and feature it on the site’s home page as “featured content” / “featured activity”?
