I installed wpmu 2.9.2 and buddypress 1.2.2.1, then I installed bbpress from the backend and enabled forums in buddypress forums.

The problem now is Chinese characters in forums posts(both in titles and contents) just displays “?????”.

Chinese characters display correctly in other parts of the site.

Anyone has any idea of how to solve this ?

This is due to the bbpress database installed as latin1_general_ci

There’s a trac entry, but not sure when it’s going to be fixed properly.

@socialpreneur, that’s right. I finally solved this by going into the database and fixed the bbp tables.

If you can confirm that altering the db type works and is not destructive, we can add that to yhe ticket.
