Friends Activities not shown on all Areas of the site.

I am running BP 1.1.3 with WPMU 2.8.6 and i want to split the activities to a seperate section of the site that is visible at all times (sidebar).
displaying a sitewide activity in the sitebar works just fine but neither the just-me or the friends loop give me any results.
the loops are intact since they show content (in the SideBar) when I navigate to
http://domain.local/members/rfauster/activity/my-friends/
Do I need to pass other variables that are “lost” on other sections on the site in order for the loops to work?
