Google analytics shows 0 visitors, code correctly installed

I had to install a new theme to get bp to work. However now google analytics shows 0 visitors, when I usually have 100 per day. The analytics site says the code is installed, even though I had disabled my old theme.

But the new bp theme I am using is bp three columns, based on bp default. So the files for the default theme are not in the bp three columns theme. The bp three columns theme says that any changes made to the default will translate to both. However, the header file, where the analytics code goes, is only in the default theme, which is not “activated” since I am using the three columns theme. I checked the code again today and it is in the correct place in the header, just before .

    Any help is appreciated.

As this forum is for issues with core BP files, and you are using a custom theme not the default theme, I would suggest contacting the theme author and asking for their help and insight. However, your point about the header file is valid. I assume that when you switch your theme to BP’s default theme that Google Analytics’ results are captured.

Thanks. I will do that. The page and single files in the theme I am using call for the header, retrieving it from the default theme.

I have not tried switching to the default theme, since it is only two columns.

It’s only been two days. Perhaps the tracking code will catch up.

    Any thoughts on this?

    Thanks,
    David

You should see results within 24-48 hours. If your Google Analytics account page says that it can see your code, then I would assume it is working fine. So, perhaps you should give it another day before contacting the theme author. You can view the browser source for a few of your outputted pages and see if the Google code is there. If it is, then it should work.

Odd. Get Source does not show the changes I made in the past few days.

    Resolved.

I figured it out, and also got a response from the theme designer.

First, BP default theme is not in the themes folder, oddly. It’s in Plugins. So I had edited the wrong header file.

The designer suggested copying the footer file from the default and putting the anaylitcs code before the closing body code.

NOTE: if you edit files in the bp-default theme folder and you upgrade buddypress it will erase all your changes.
