Group Shortcode Filters

Is there an easy way to add filters to the BP Groups Shortcode.
I am displaying a cluster of 12 groups on my home page and I wish to allow the user to filter the displayed groups at follows:
“Total Groups # My Groups # Popular Active Alphabetical Newest”
