Help migrating my site to a new server
-
I have done this with a WordPress site before, but not a whole BuddyPress community. I wish I didn’t have to do this, but I feel that I need to use a better hosting provider.
Has anybody else gone through this process and can lend me some pointers.
I am going to setup the new site first, import all plugins, settings, and my WordPress export. I will also export the database tables from my old site and import them into the new site.
What else should I do?

are you going from wpmu to wpmu? I’m having problems doing something similar, but moving from wpmu to wp, AND a different domain name. I’d love to figure out why it’s not working, and I’m even willing to stay with wpmu, but so far, everything I’ve tried has resulted in failure.
I am moving from WPMU to WPMU, I am mainly concerned with transferring all the membership and activity.
Everything is stored in the database, so as long as you get that and everything under the wp-content folder, you’ll be good.
thanks @Andrea_r
do you recommend simply import/export via phpMyAdmin?
Yes, unless you want to do it command-line with mysql dumps.
I was running a cpanel – one host bundled up the entire thing, the other host took the bundle and installed it. Instant site, thought there are some latent “ownership” issues we’re running down.
Do I need to remove the tables on the new site that I intend on replacing with data from the old site? Does phpMyAdmin now allow overwriting, or is this not good practice? I gotta get this sorted today.
I have was able to export and import my WordPress content into WordPress, getting all of my users, their info, and buddypress x-profile fields is where I am getting hung up. I keep gettin the #1062 – Duplicate entry ‘1’ for key 1 error message.
