Help needed on dedictaed server specs before i buy

hi all ive been building and tweaking one of my buddypress sites for a good while now on a cheap and nasty shared server plan from hostgator, i am now ready to launch one of my site’s sometime next month so have opted to upgrade to dedicated in the uk, because after the launch of this site i plan on adding more sites, now all i am asking if any of you experienced buddypress users can help me decide between these 2 packages and specs.
the first package specs are:
cpu: Intel® Atom™ C2750
8 Cores x 2.4 GHz
(2.6 GHz Turbo Boost)RAM: 8 GB DDR3 ECC
Hardrives: 1,000 GB (2 x 1,000 SATA) raid 1
second package specs are:
cpu: intel® Xeon® E3-1220
4 Cores x 3.1 GHz
(3.4 GHz Turbo Boost)RAM: 12 GB DDR3 ECC
Hardrives: 1,000 GB (2 x 1,000 SATA) raid 1
do you think these dedicated servers are good enough for large buddypress installs and which would you go for?
