Help, spam groups are killing site

so our site is pretty much unusable right not and we found out that it is getting dozens of spam groups a minute created on domain.com/groups. Im trying to figure out how to stop this. They have created tens of thousands of spam groups and not sure how to stop it or who is doing it to delete them
