Help Troubleshooting My Broken Registration

Something broke in my registration process and I can’t figure out what. When you click “complete sign up”, the screen goes white…as if it’s about to open the activation page, but then nothing happens. Figuring it was a plugin conflict, I deactivated all but buddypress and tried again…no luck.

I even moved all plugins except buddypress (a fresh 1.2.4.1 install) to a temp folder (deactivating them) and still get white empty screen instead of the activation screen. So it’s probably not a plugin conflict.

I get the same results with my parent theme’s registration.php and my child theme’s registration.php.
I renamed my child functions.php…no luck.
    I erased my bp-custom.php file…no luck.
    I tried a default wp-config.php…no luck.

Frustratingly, there are no relevant errors in my error log.

My specific question is what else can I check? What causes white screens that isn’t a plugin and doesn’t make an entry in the error log?

    I’m on mu 2.9.2 and buddypress 1.2.4.1

Finally got a clue from my error log:

“[Tue Jun 15 16:00:07 2010] [error] [client 66.249.68.21] File does not exist: /home/housings/public_html/register.php”

But I shouldn’t have a register.php file in my root???

Is this a bad call from my theme?

Have you tried using the BP default theme? That’s the easiest way to figure out if your child theme is the problem.

Also, if you’re using WPMU, check the wp-content/mu-plugins folder.
