Hiding Buddypress Group Forums on main bbpress install – not working?

I’m new to buddypress, so feel free to point and laugh at any blatantly stupid mistakes.
I’m setting up WordPress 3.0.2 with the latest release of buddypress locally to test it out for a possible web project and I’m having some trouble with using an existing bbpress install. I used this method to hide buddypress group forums in my bbpress install, and it worked great, with one glaring problem that I’m not sure if it’s due to the overall method or the hidden forum plugin. The problem is two-fold.
First, this part: ` define ( ‘BP FORUMS PARENT FORUM_ID’, 3 ); `
Which is supposed to make buddypress put all forums created by groups in the group category with the id of 3 is not working at all. However, even if I manually put these group forums into the proper category, the hidden-forums plugin is hiding the category, but not the forums within it.
Any ideas?
