'Home' showing a 404 rather than activity feed, and profiles not displaying?

I have a brand new installation of WordPress 2.9.2 running at http://www.FarmvilleMad.com, with a new installation of BuddyPress 1.2.3.

I want:

* The activity feed to be displayed when first accessing the site, rather than the 404 I have now or the latest blog entries.

* A seporate tab along the top for blog entries, like the NEWS tab on the BuddyPress demo site at http://testbp.org.

* Member profiles to work, as for some reason they aren’t. Example: http://www.farmvillemad.com/members/Farmville%20Mad/ takes you to the site index, rather than the user profile.

Can anyone advise on how I go about achieving this? I’ve had a look around the threads here already but can’t seem to find any answers.
