Hopped Up Beer

    Hello Everyone,

Heres our site, its still in development, so the design is quite crude and rough around the edges right now. We’re working on using some plugins to make a review area to review beers, as well as favorite beers, breweries, and bars.

Anyways, let us know what you think.

    Thanks wpin.me

We just got the Reviews “working”. Still ironing out some minor bugs but we’re quite happy with how its turned out so far.

Beer and BuddyPress? Sounds like a great combo (and Arrogant Bastard is one of my favs)

What is running the reviews? single wp?

We’re actually running this one http://www.myreviewplugin.com/

It seemed to fit with our needs the best, and has actually been quite easy to work with. We’re also using GravityForms (which is probably one of the best plugins to ever be on WordPress) to handle adding new beers (which are actually posts)

@andystaple when Pods becomes wordpress friendly it will be an awesome choice to use as your Beer data-type manager.

Does MyReviewPlugin actually make use of BP XProfile data and hook into the activity stream? eg. [Andy Staple] reviewed [Pete’s Wicked Ale] in [Microbews Group] for example?

no, not currently although we will probably edit it ourselves to do so.

I’ll keep an Eye on PODS, I saw some stuff on it while I was at Wordcamp NYC in November and it looks nice.

Andy Truly love the site, as a buddypresser, and a Beer enthusiast.

Anyway youd be willing to share with me what plugin you are using for the ratings you have on your home page or is that a custom job?

    Hi dpee,

We are using the plugin found here: http://www.myreviewplugin.com/

I HIGHLY recommend it. The support is amazing (we have found a few bugs and they were fixed within a day). It is the best WordPress review plugin hands down.

    Nice work.

Are you running bbPress within BP and external to BP?

    @stwc

Looks great! Did it take a lot of work getting Simplepress forums integrated? I’m running up against the limitations of bbpress out-of-the-box and it’s giving me some minor headaches.

We are running SimplePress not bbPress. We found bbPress to not be up to our needs.

Integration with buddypress is really good, though the template system leaves a lot to be desired.

@Mike Pratt, I’m the main developer of MyReviewPlugin and I’ve noted your suggestion for the next version of MyReviewPlugin. It sounds like an awesome feature I can’t wait to get working for my users! Thanks for your (indirect) suggestion.

Also, thanks guys @ Hopped Up Beer for your kind words! I’m doing my best to make sure MyReviewPlugin is the best review plugin around! Your site is looking absolutely great.

@Mark My Pleasure. I might have a need for that type of functionality down the road. Not just yet but eventually. Looking forward to your implementation.

Has mark-edwards deleted his account again, or is that some weird problem with the – in his account name that I can’t message him/let alone find him?

I would love to use the myreviewplugin for the new BP-Tricks site.. not for review but to let others know how hard it is to implement.. It would be cool if the plugin was completely integrated with BuddyPress that would make it a must have!
