How can I override BBP_Forums_Group_Extension?

I feel there is a big lacking of documentation on the new intricacies of how BBPress works for BuddyPress Group Forums..
I see the Group Extension in BBPress checks to see if it is already defined, but I cannot figure out which action I need to hook into so that my BBP_Forums_Group_Extension is used instead of the default BBPress Group Extension.
Please help!
