how do i convert my normal theme so forums will show

my pages work fine –
all bp features work fine EXCEPT the global forum page – it tries to load my normal theme and gets a 404 error –
i need to use my normal theme, just need some guidance, i have read over everything and cannot seem to find any other answer than to use the stock bp theme
