How do u merge profiles when a user registers w different email addresses?

Too often people register for a BuddyPress site and then forget which of their email addresses was used the when they initially registered. Then they register again with another email address and end up with two or more identities.
Currently, I contact such users, inform them about the mistake and ask them which identity they want to keep.
Has anyone figured out how to merger users, similar to how Google lets me merge contacts who use more than one email address?
