How to build a list of user_id’s belonging to a group?

I need to build a list of user_id’s belonging to a group and pass that user list into filter activity stream for displaying the groupmembers new blog post on frontpage.
Example: user_id=(list)&action=new_blog_post&object=blog
Any pointers to how i go about building that list … any documentation etc?
