the permalink (group name and topic name) for Chinese buddypress user is lengthy and ugly (it interprets the Chinese characters into Unicode?), for example:

how to change the peramlink to something decent (for example, with number or english letters)?

For groups, you could try this:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-edit-group-slug/

However, be aware that this will break your existing group links for those that have manually bookmarked or copied your group link.

thanks, but it seems it’s outdated and doesn’t support current buddypress, for example: it reports failure:
