Users belong to WP, try going to user list in backend and deleting from there.
Ok, thanks for that. However I’d still like for users to be able to delete themselves. Do you know of a way to enable that? There’s an option in the settings for buddypress that seems to say that you can do that (the one about enabling user deletion), but I have it enabled and still can’t find any button or link to do that.
Thanks for the speedy reply! The level of aid here is amazing.
However I do always forget to mention that BP does provide a delete link in the WP adminbar for admins to manage a user from their account.
Sorry, new to wordpress as well – the adminbar, is that the bar at the top? Because I couldn’t find a way to delete accounts with that, either.
@samuelboland
If the user clicks profile in the my account menu in the top right of the toolbar they will be taken to profiles page. In the lower navigation click settings/delete account!
@samuelboland
Also note if you are logged in as the admin what @hnla said applies but you will not see the delete account link in profile/settings/delete account.
So that’s three means to approaching the task :), as admin you get three options backend, wp adminbar, on actual user account object nav links ‘settings’. As the actual user you may delete your own acount as long as the BP settings in backend allow for user deletions.
I don’t see a way to delete the account as a user still. I’ve uploaded a screenshot here:
I click the Profile button, and it takes me here:
There’s no delete account button that I can see.
Thanks again for all the help.
@samuelboland
The user can also just click the my account menu in the top right of the toolbar then click settings/delete account. Either way it does the same thing. Good luck!
Doing that just returns me to the same page that I linked above.
I’m beginning to think that this is a bigger issue than buddypress – maybe the wordpress installation is configured incorrecty. This is a server that’s been around for a few years, so I’m going to install a virtual computer and run a fresh WP install from there. Maybe that’ll do it.
@samuelboland
In dashboard/settings/buddypress/components make sure you click the box beside account settings and save. Otherwise it won’t show up!
Haha! That works! I should have thought of that.
Thanks so much for both of your help. That fixes a lot.
