How to have a different profile page for different types of members?

    Hi all,

I’ve been looking through the forums for an answer to this question but I haven’t found a specific answer. I set-up two different user types at registration for instance teacher and student. Then for each type of user I would like to create a different profile page with different fields. So that if you are a teacher user you must fill in profile fields that would be different for a student user.

Does anybody know if there is a plug-in available or a way of changing the settings to do this?

This is currently not possible with BuddyPress

I should elaborate, you could do conditional profile page design but you can not have conditional profile fields

By conditional profile page design do you mean that each type of user would have a different profile page? So that there would be two different profile page designs?

Yeah, a developer could create a plugin that had different info fields for different users. It’s just not a core feature to have profile fields for different users. The main reason for this is BuddyPress doesn’t have different types of users. Everyone is a subscriber. The admins and mods just pertain to groups.

Do you know if there is a plugin that already does this?

No, this would require custom coding for your specific needs

Ok, sounds a bit beyond my abilities, I only heard of php last week. Thanks for helping me out.
