bp-album uses the activity stream to add comments.
Blog post != activity stream.
What I’d recommend is to disable activity replies for blog posts and comments.
To do this, login to your WP dashboard and navigate to “BuddyPress > General Settings”.
Under “Disable activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts?”, select “Yes” and save.
There’s a nice hack over on BP-Tricks to rewrite the links back to the original activity (ie blog posts) as ‘calls to action’ as well — ie ‘Comment on this post’ and so on, which makes things a lot clearer for users. You can see it in action in the activity stream at (my site) gamefilter.net.
Thanks Ray, but I need to show (as any social network will do) blog posts in the stream. Think of FB Notes, their equivalent of blog, where users can reply both from stream or in the Notes (blog) itself. Its difficult and confusing for readers if blog is not truly integrated. More so when album=photo blog does this but wp blog=text blog does not do this. This is broken UX and workflow for users.
@stwc can you kindly give the link and is there any working site demo-ing this? Thanks a lot for the tips!
@stwc oh sorry! Got the link, will check out. Thnx again!
@stwc sorry to bother you again. I saw your site and thats cool!
One thing, I got that snippet working but how to make “Reply” vanish selectively for the blog posts and blog comments ?
Another thing, have you been able to add “Favorite” button in the blog post itself so that there is something like “Like”(wordpress.com Like not FB) below the blog posts itself also?
@ronia I have renamed BP ‘Favorite’ to ‘Bookmark’ and extended an old version of BP-Like to use with blog posts and comments and other stuff (as well as count ‘likes’ given and received per user), and used the built-in functionality in BP-Like to rename the links to ‘Thanks’.
Is it compatible with current versions?
Where isa link to download it and test?
