How to set different title and tagline for main blog

I am using my main blog for news about the buddypress website. Accordingly I want the blog title and tagline to say stuff like “news about” or “site updates” etc. However, if I change the general settings to this, then my whole site name changes to these inputs.
I understand that this is a WPMU issue as in WPMU the main blog is the site however, is it possible to set differnet titles and descriptions for the site as a whole so it shows appropriately in Google?
Also, what would be the RSS feed of my main blog?
