How to Share/Repost Friends’ Status/Activity?

I apologize if this is in the wrong place. Please feel free to move this post or redirect me elsewhere. I’m wondering how I could create a button beside “reply” so that members can repost their friends’ statuses and links (similar to sharing on Facebook or retweeting on Twitter). I know we could make use of @mentions but I am using Oembed for links (such as YouTube, etc) and that’s where it snags me most. I would really like to have a way for users to click a button and share the status update/activity/link/video/content. Can this be done with a code? hack? plugin? Suggestions, please and thanks.

the code is not working, i used it in my functions.php but it sparked error

Username “Stacy” is a known spammer who gives “advice” that is potentially harmful to your computer. It is not advisable to use the code above.

This plugin should get you what you want:

The a**hole above has created another user account with a variation of Stacy in the username. Can anything be done to block this schmuck?

Hi @pcwriter : I’ve tried the “Share It” plugin but it seems that is used to be able to post it to Facebook, Twitter, etc. I would like users to be able to repost to my own site’s activity stream. Thank you for the suggestion.

there is one plugin called “buddypress like” or smth, search for it in the repository. Is not perfect, but does at least part of the job
