When I try to access http://www.domain.com/blogs/members/john redirects to http://domain.com/blogs. However, if I access it like this http://domain.com/blogs/members/john it works fine.

Any idea why it behaves like this?

You gave your domain as ‘domain.com’ when you installed WPMU?

Actually that’s rubbish. This is WPMU not supporting www. It never has; have a look on their trac tickets and forum.
