I am confused….(notifications, bp-default, etc)

    I am running BP 1.9 and WP 3.8. Site is http://www.cringechannel.com. I am having that notification error that others have reported. IE, the “notification” page is completely broken. Every other part works. I have temporarily disabled it.

    I have read that there will be a 1.9.1 fix released soon — but when? Someone mentioned it will be done within 24 hours, but that was 4 days ago.

    I also read that I need to get rid of bp-default. I don’t understand how to do that. bp-default is a buddypress theme, right? How do I find a different BP theme that won’t interfere with the rest of my site? Is there anywhere I can find “approved” BP themes? Is it easy to replace?

    No luck. Followed those instructions and found the file. I pasted the code where you told me to paste it but nothing changed.

    Current BuddyPress works with any theme. All uou need to do is activate a different theme that is not a bp-default child theme

    Appearance > Themes in the WordPress admin. Activate a different theme.

    It has been known for some time that bp-default is getting phased out and new features will not work on it.

    Any well coded WordPress theme should work well with BuddyPress.

    I have a custom theme for my website.. called detube. I can’t change that..

    Then you will be stuck with a broken site. If you can get the theme developer to remove BuddyPress from the theme and allow it to use BP theme compatibility then your theme will work into the future.

    I know this isn’t something you want to hear but it is better in the long run to have theme compatibility. BP 1.9.1 will have a fix for notifications display. This will be the final feature fix. You have the options of removing BuddyPress from your theme or using a new WordPress theme.

    Detube claims to be bp compatible so I don’t know what’s going on..

    A theme can say it’s compatible all it wants and it might not work. Contact the developer of the theme and ask them to make it work with theme compatability templates.

    It is holiday time so 1.9.1 will get done when its done.

    While we are on the subject of Notifications, I was just wonder how you could translate notifications when you are looking at the profile, I have been searching through all code using notepad++ but i cant find it

    There should be a page in admin for Notification. Rename this page to change the tab text
