I want to create a social network on buddypress

    I own a ning.com social network and it is very popular. Turns out that I want to leave the ning platform. And, I would like to start a social network on buddypress. Hence, I would have to start a social network on buddypress that runs similar to one that runs on ning. (I do not want to run ning.com, I like their social networks and want to create one that has ALL of the similar features: ie, photos, videos, forums, blogs, etc.)

    I have several questions. I plan on hiring one or several programmers and would want to get some suggestions and pricing!

    (1) What language would it be written in? (2) How many programmers would be needed to create one? (3) How much would it cost per hour for each programmer? (4) How much would the entire project cost? (5) How would this be completed? Ie, start a buddypress and create plug ins? Or, use buddypress and add code to it?

    Hi @richonbp

    (1) A combination of PHP, JavaScript, jQuery and Ajax is the usual.
    (2 – 4) Depends on your requirements
    (5) Usually a combination of WordPress and BuddyPress to begin with. Then any plugins you need. You might also want to choose a theme
