Imported Ning blogs turn into BuddyPress Posts

I imported my Ning downloads (created using the Ning network archiver) into BuddyPress using the import from ning plugin. It seemed to work without a hitch … until I checked the blog posts. There were none. But there were lots of posts, all associated to the admin. I went through each one and associated it to the original user.
How do I turn these posts into blog entries by the users who wrote them? Did I miss a step?
