Invite members to a hidden group

How can I invite members to a hidden group when the “friend” component is not activated in Buddypress? I don’t see any place I can do this. Any suggestion?

Can only friends be invited to a hidden group, so that’s why invite option does not exists for the group?

Shouldn’t the “Hidden group” option be dimmed then if “Friends” is not activated?

Or rather, why not allow for anyone to be invited to a hidden group?

Asking myself the same!

I want to use hidden groups, but do not want to use the friends component!

Consider using a plugin like Invite Anyone wordpress.org/extend/plugins/invite-anyone to get around this restriction.
