Is it possible to change the name of a plugin?

Hi, I was wondering if I can change the name of a plugin site-wide.

More specifically, the groups plugin. I want to change the words ‘group’ and ‘groups’ to network and networks. I can obviously achieve this with a plugin but I don’t want it so that everytime a user posts the word ‘group’ it’ll change into ‘network’.

Is it possible to do this without touching the base code?

Yes, you will need to edit the .po files which is located in languages folder. Use poedit software.

Yes. I did change group to project for the entire site (www.trackfight.net).
You need to edit the language files for Buddypress and depending on your theme the theme’s language files as well.
