in profile there is a way to make people to choose their first language.
it would be great to link this with an available language transmation of buddypress.
I’d be interested in that too. My community is international, although English is common, some ppl still seem to be scared off. Would be cool when ppl can set their preferred language in their profile.

Until you posted this thread was 8 months old. You can localise BuddyPress in the same standard way which you do WordPress. I am aware someone has a new plugin in the works which, despite me not fully understanding what it does, sounds like it will be useful to run multilanguage BP sites.
