Looking to create a profile dropdown in header after login…

Hello, I am running the newest version of wordpress and my website is based off the frisco child theme. Was just wondering how I could display the users profile in the upper right of my own header. This will look similar to the wordpress default black header with the [Howdy,…]. I am planning on removing this default black header though so I need a way for the user to log in from the top and then once they are logged in, the header displays their name. Then, if you hover over the name it drops down. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
