Looking to hide Group Descriptions from the Group Directory

I am building a site where we put links in the group descriptions for ease of use for our customers. However, these are partially sensitive and we want to hide the group descriptions from the directory. Does anyone have advice on how to limit the group description visibility only in the group directory?
