make bp_create_excerpts work on multibyte characters

activity widget and recent blog widget doesn’t yet support multibyte characters. This is a MUST HAVE function for non English users.

I’ve posted a similar topic, but this is a feature request.

well, trac is quiet and that’s why I opened this to receive more opinions and ideas.

Trac is checked very often I’m sure by Andy, and other people like myself who try to confirm the bug reports or offer fixes. Obviously it’s not a discussion forum

Just noticed recent blogs widget uses bp_create_excerpt, but activity widget doesn’t use the function.

Does anybody know some simple code hack to only show activity titles, not post contents?
