make sure "Username" and "Name" is the same on Signup

I know that the topic around Username, Name, Nickname, etc. has been discussed before.

I just have a question about the following:

If a user is entering his “Username”: how can it be made that the “Name”-Field gets automatically the same name as the “Username”-field.

I would like the “Name” being exactly the same as the “Username” for all of my users.

    How to do this ?

    Many thanks,

I’m interested in this as well. Users will enter their name but create absurd, wacky usernames that isn’t in line with our site as a personal branding site.

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-real-names/

I tried that but the registration form doesn’t change and all and when I click the Buddypress button in the site admin it redirects me to my homepage. The title of the plugin sounds good, but if it worked that would be better.

In the options of buddypress you can set the name of the name-field. There you can write “Username (repeated)” or something like this, so that new Users know that they should write the same name again.

No code, no plugin, just easy going ;-)

I use this bit of javascript. The example is for blogname (url) from Blog Title, but you can also use it for username from Full Name – or the other way around.
